DVD Addict

Alyssa will pretty much do anything to watch a movie.  The typical is to say “movie please" followed by listing each and every one of her movies in a whiny voice while following you around the house until you give in or distract her.  Depending on which room in the house you are in her request change from DVD’s to YouTube video’s.  (She’s a huge fan of The Elephant Song on YouTube and knows most of the words.)

Well the other day we were all sitting in the living room watching TV and she asked to watch one of her movies.  We said no and suggested she go play with her books or puzzles and then continued on watching our show.  A few minutes later Luke turns around to this:

Reaching for Books 001

Here she is amazingly reaching up to grab one of her DVD’s.  It’s pretty amazing because what you can’t tell from the first picture is that her DVD’s are on a shelf that she can not reach!  The second picture is the view from afar:

Reaching for Books 002

She used her piggy to balance and reach the taller shelf!  It may be typical for boys at her age to climb on things, but this is the very first time she has ever climbed up on something.  She rarely attempts to climb up on the couch which she could probably do if she really wanted to.

Ha ha ha!  Eden uses that piggy for the same thing!  Our new car has a DVD player in it but Eden doesn't know it yet...I don't want to deal with the DVD issue when we're out of the house.  It's bad enough when we're at home.  Just wait until Alyssa figures out which buttons to push to put the DVD's she wants into the player and then how to turn on the movie.  I'm constantly hiding remote controls now!  Try to be as stealth as possible when you're doing it in her presence.  Somehow they figure it all out!

Oh man, I am NOT looking forward to the climbing stage! Norah just started to really get the hang of scooting on her tummy and I'm already researching baby gates. Hopefully Alissa doesn't figure out that you keep all the good stuff in the upper kitchen cabinets any time soon. Yikes!

Looks like she takes after her grandma Coco.  We found out she could climb over the gate in the back yard when a neighbor found her walking down the street and the gate was still locked.  She also loved climbing on the piano which at that time was the old upright piano.  Keep an eye on Alyssa.
Good luck!
