Many people might not know this, but I am pretty much blind.
I don’t remember how old I was when I was fitted for glasses, but I was little. But old enough to still remember how much I hated them. The lenses were so thick in the frame that one side almost touched my face. They were so heavy that they left indents in my nose. I hated them.
I couldn’t wait until I was in the 7th grade so that my parents would allow me to get contacts. 7th grade arrived and I remember being so excited as I waited in the Lyon Contact Lens Center. I was told I should get a pair of glasses as a back up plan, but I just couldn’t force myself to do it until more recently. Actually as I sit here typing this blog I’m wearing my glasses, but I seldom wear them. Mostly for late night blogs or early morning Alyssa issues. Otherwise I’m 99% of the time wearing my contact lens’s.
I love my contacts. I need my contacts. I’m not sure what I would do without my contacts!
Anyway, the reason I mention all of this is because of a voice mail I received today. It actually began yesterday.
I received a phone call from the Lyon Contact Lens Center about a special deal they are offering right now on new lens’s. I sadly let them know that I wouldn’t be able to come anymore because I moved to Washington.
Side Note: The Lyon Contact Lens place is in Anaheim. My parents live about an hour away and they are faithful customers. When I moved to San Diego I was still a faithful customer. While I would love to continue to commute there, I don’t think I’ll be able to anymore.
Today I received a voice mail from Bill Lyon, owner of Lyon Contact Lens. I recognized his voice right away – you would too. His voice is warm, chipper and friendly. I saved the message because I want to be able to listen to it again. It was such a nice message. I was going to paraphrase, but I really thought I wasn’t doing it justice so I transcribed my voicemail. Here is what he said:
“Well Sabrina Hi, it’s Bill Lyon at Lyon Contact Lens and I just realized here that not only are you in Redmond Washington, but that you have found a doctor out of state and what I wanted to do was just thank you for the past 10 plus years you have been a patient here. You and your mom are delightful and God Bless you and thank you for the years you have been so loyal to us and if you need us in the future you let us know. I’ll be your plan B and if I don’t hear from you I’ll assume that somebody up in Washington is taking real good care of you so thank you so much and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and thanks again for all the years you have been with us okay? We’re going to close your file and if anything changes in the future I’m a good soldier. Alright sweety? God Bless.”
I’m not really looking forward to making a contact lens appointment here in Washington because the bar is set pretty high and I’m positive they won’t be able to match it. But it will have to do for now.
I just had to blog about my experience to give him kudos for being such a nice and friendly person and eye specialist. And most importantly sharing the love of Jesus with every patient. I have not enough words to say how much I have enjoyed my experience at his office.
I could not write this blog and not mention this…
If you are at all interested in contact lenses you should definitely check out the Lyon Contact Lens Center - you will not be disappointed.
