Mom Jeans

Over the past few weeks we’ve had a tag-team of parents visit us.  My mom was here the first week Evan was born followed by Luke’s mom.  Peggy was here while we packed and moved and then my parents came back for a couple of weeks to visit and help us settle into our new home.  It seems like the weeks have flown by and I can’t believe it’s been 7 weeks already.  Well, this is the first week “on my own” as a mom of two. I’ve been fortunate to have lots of help these past few weeks, but now all of the visitors are gone and Luke’s back to work.  I’m trying to get back into a “normal” routine…which hopefully will close the gap in my blogging.  So to catch up, here’s a quick picture summary of the past few weeks:

Oh and the De Haan’s paid us a visit the first week Evan was born and before we moved.  By the way – plug for Cayden…he’s walking!  Yep he’s only 8months old!  Beat Alyssa by 8 months – geeze!  You go boy!

But as far as Evan goes.  He’s certainly a mommy’s boy and loves to be held.  He slept with my pink robe for a while because it was the only way to get him to sleep by himself at night.  So cute, hehe.

He’s had a couple of poopie blow outs which sucks and is totally gross, but I forgave him.  As far as the outdoor plumbing goes, it’s finally under control and rarely leaks when we take a peek under the hood.

He loves the bath and even likes taking baths with Alyssa.

The older he gets the lighter his skin color gets…the bottom picture was when he was only a week old and the top pictures are this last week.

He’s awake more and more these days which is fun to see him look around or give you a crazy stare.

He also has a really cute sad face a deep crying voice.

As for Alyssa. Well she’s coping pretty well with her new baby brother.  From the start she was very curious, but careful around him.  She loves to give him kisses, but Evan doesn’t always like to receive the kisses. :) The De Haans Visiting 018

She is a year and a half now and with that comes all the lovely things of toddler hood.  Such as eating mommy’s Dorito’s, getting stuck in Evan’s chair, or pulling mommy’s clothes off the hangers…even though she knows she’s not supposed to do those things…especially without asking or saying “peas.”

So when she gets in trouble she has started to give us something we call “The Look.”  It’s “the look” that I give her when she is doing something she is not supposed to be doing.  I have a hard time not laughing when she does this.

Her favorite past times include:

Playing in the rain with daddy; because if you don’t play in the rain you don’t get to play outside and she LOVES to be outside. In From The Rain 002

Drinking out of open top cups…especially if it’s not hers. “Deets peas!”(drink please)017

Watching movies…especially Praise Baby or one of her sign video’s.  Which are thankfully not as annoying as some of the other video’s we have.  Watching a Movie 005

Brushing her teeth…hopefully she’ll always like doing that.

Taking naps… just kidding.  Naps are not one of her favorite things right now, but she totally fell asleep on my bed this afternoon while I was at the computer.  I was emailing and thinking, right after I finish this I’m going to put Alyssa down for a nap and then I turned around and saw this.  It would be nice if all naps were that easy!

Oh and two more things she loves:  Her grandparents and reading.  So when she gets a combination she is one happy camper!

Now that I’m a mom of two, I guess I need to go out and buy myself a pair of “Mom Jeans!” lol This video is soo funny!

Intruder

Saturday, 17 November 2007 19:21 by Sabrina

Washington is great if you are outside.  If you are inside it's not all that great.  I'm kind of a paranoid person anyway, but lately it's been real life freak outs.

First of all we are staying in a fabulous 2 bedroom apartment fully furnished with perks like a washer/dryer, a crib for Alyssa, a fire place (which we have yet to use and probably won't, but it's nice to look at) and even maid service!  Sounds great huh?   Well the week we got here we went off to church on a Sunday and came back and saw a note that said the lights were replaced.  We were like huh, okay cool.

Then a couple of days later I'm sick in bed attempting to entertain Alyssa while I am half awake and half sleeping, granted it's like 11am, but I feel crappy and so yes I'm still in bed.  This is when it happened.  I hear a VERY loud knock on the door which scares the crap out of me and makes me jump and so now I'm totally awake, but not all the way oriented.  I had just been about to change Alyssa's diaper, but I jump out of bed and run into the closet to attempt to put some appropriate clothing on.  I'm jumping into a pair of sweatpants when I hear the second heart thumping knock, gotta find a shirt – no a sweatshirt cause – well just because - so I'm searching the closet, nothing. Then I remember Luke has one on the floor on his side of the bed.  So as I put it over my head and grab Alyssa  I hear a very manly "HELLO!"  OH My Gosh, there is a man in my house.  OKAY.  So I'm like uh, I'm coming.  As I enter the living room from my bedroom I see the man walking up the stairs from the front door entry way to our living room.  Yikes, okay.  So then he is like, 'here's your…' and I didn't catch all of what he was saying, so I was like huh?  Then he was like 'your internet box that you requested.'  Oh okay.  Thanks (I guess).  He apologizes and said that he hopes he didn't wake me up because I think he could tell I was shocked to see him in my house and I must have looked crappy since I practically did just wake up.  So that was a crazy awakening.

But then it happens again!  The next week I hear a knock at the door and I'm racking my brain to think about who it could be this time cause it's not like we know anyone here! LOL  And I'm also thinking 'whew, at least I'm up, showered and dressed this time.'  So I'm already in the living room and  I head down the stairs to open the door, but before I even get to the 2nd stair I hear a key turn and the door open, gosh!  Then I hear, "Hello, housekeeping!"  Oh, okay that's right I totally forgot, but geeze how come they don't call first or even give me a chance to get to the door!

So now I'm totally paranoid every morning and try to get up as early as I can wake myself up to get a shower in case I have any surprise guests and all the time I'm in the shower I'm praying that no one walks in!
